Our Kitchen renovations are so nearly done but it’s always the last bits that seem to take the longest time isn’t it - the dreaded snagging list! 🤦🏼‍♀️🥰 Unfortunately I’m not only the designer (the best bit) but also the decorator and quite often the labourer too in our house, so the rest is down to me. 😮 It’s all the cutting in of the paintwork and the sanding down that I really dislike, although I do sometimes manage to persuade my husband to help with the sanding. So I actually made this sweet little Vintage teacup Pincushion for a client, along with a few other items, but I just loved it too much to give away, especially as I used some gorgeous pink and tiny star #Greengate rare fabric. 🤭💕 Thankfully, she wasn’t expecting it as I’d been given free rein to design a few items. I’m so in love with this Boucle bed from @dusk.com 💕 We bought it for our daughter’s 13th birthday as she wanted a more grown up room so the whole family contributed towards her new room makeover. We waited over 10 years for our bedroom to be done and we love it so much. It was such a labour of love with a lot of structural work and we were constantly interrupted by lots of serious life traumas, but we did it, and we feel very blessed. ♥️ We built the wardrobes using oak lipped MDF so it looked like wood when I painted them and we used ironmongery from @ironmongerydirectuk . We then used the beautiful antique style mirror glass from @osbornglass in the middle set of doors to break up the expanse and add some depth. I’m always asked about the curtains and they’re actually king size quilts from @greengateofficial which I’ve sewn some curtain heading tape onto. Because they’re patterned on both sides they make a lovely self pelmet and they look beautiful from the outside too. ♥️ It took me 2 years to find the bed of my dreams which we bought from @darlingsofchelsea ♥️ and the bedding is from @shopmatalan and it feels like marshmallows. It has so much texture and I’ve bought several sets for different beds in different colours! That divine reindeer hide is actually faux but looks so real from @coxandcox - it’s one of my most favourite things in the whole house! The other gorgeous pink throw is from @pompomathome which I totally fell in love with. ♥️ All the paint colours are @farrowandball and the textured carpet we purchased @barbersflooring and we have it all over the house. There’s also lots of doors and secret spaces in this room so much more to come! I believe it’s possible to make any area pretty no matter how small. 💕. This was an ugly scruffy alleyway which was really depressing to look at, but now it’s one of my favourite places to sit. 💕. At night all you can hear is sheep and the birds. 💕 The swing bench was an @alexander.rose.furniture @ebay_uk find, which I painted in @ronseal.uk cherry blossom pink, it’s so pretty. I won the paint in their competition and I have to say it’s a really good product with great coverage. 💕 The fencing and log rolls are all from @hartwellfencing 💕we’ve used their fab products everywhere and not only do they look great but they’re built to last! 💕 That gorgeous moon lantern is from @lights4fun 💕 I bought 6 of them and have them spread all around my 3 tiny little gardens. I’m so in love with them they look so very magical like little moons at night 💕 The light up hare and ribbon used for the tree bows are from @coxandcox and the floor lanterns and cushions are from @homebargains and @bm_stores and @therangeuk 💕 I just had to buy a @moccymoo Muslin to use as a table cloth - how absolutely divine is that fabric 💕far too gorgeous to be mopping up baby sick! 🫢💕🥰 And how absolutely adorable is that bird house? So we had open gardens at our house last weekend and around 500 visitors came through our tiny little gardens. 💕 By far the most loved part was our covered pergola which we’ve just finished. 💕 We had so much love, kindness and compliments. Lots of visitors took photos and I’ve had lots of new followers, so Hello to all you wonderful and kind people we met and chatted with. 🙋🏼‍♀️💕It was such fun and we truly loved meeting you all and talking gardens and more! 💕 We even had @rhschelseaflowershow designer Martyn Wilson @wilsonassociatesdesign who was very kind and gave up his time to support this charity event. 💕 I promised to share how my clever husband built it from my design drawings. We started with a basic pergola structure and then clad the walls with used scaffold boards, leaving openings for windows. We made a basic frame for the bench seat at the back, which we also clad in scaffold boards and this has a lift up seat lid with storage underneath. I absolutely adore tactile fabrics and furnishings and I love my living spaces to be full of them. ♥️ My family definitely think I have a cushion and throw obsession but doesn’t everyone? 🙄 one can never have too many cushions and throws surely! 🥰 I have taken this photo from the corner of my corner settee - I need to take a photo of it - and it’s full to the brim (the fam say ridiculously so!) of faux fur and cushions and throws. 🥰 I bought the sweet little chair from @facebookmarketplace and didn’t take any notice of the measurements because I knew I was fine for space, but when we unloaded it, it’s actually really tiny and I thought omg what have I bought! 😮🫢 I had to pretend to Mr Chandelier that I thought it was perfect, especially as we travelled miles out of our way into London on the way back from a mini holiday. This is the reality of making Wreaths in my tiny little Craftroom. 🥰 It’s utter chaos and there are literally flowers absolutely everywhere, and although I try really hard to just start and finish the same wreath, I’m like a child in a sweetshop and I get really excited when, whilst making one wreath, I come across some flowers that I’d forgotten I had. Of course I then just simply ‘have’ to start another one immediately, ‘so I don’t forget my ideas!’ 😮. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 🥰 This is only half of my tiny little room and a tiny proportion of my collection of faux flowers 🌸 I have a large 1 metre wide drawer on the other side full to bursting of flower heads in every colour, and then a tiny little shed with 3 more huge drawers and quite a lot hanging around. In my last open workshop of this season we made these adorable little trees. ♥️ We dressed them with the cutest little embellishments such as tiny wooden deers and wreaths, glass stars and moons, pom poms, sparkly bows, little flowers, birch stars, tiny little angels, snowflakes and ribbons♥️. This is the Beautiful Wreath one of my most lovely students made. ♥️ Not surprisingly she was absolutely thrilled with it and sent me the most beautiful message afterwards. ♥️ This lady has done a few workshops with me now, and I was both touched and honoured when she said that she does the workshops not just because of the things we make, but because she loves being in my company too. ♥️ Such a sweet kind comment that made me very happy. ♥️♥️♥️ I love what I do, and I really want everyone I teach to get lost creating beautiful things in my workshops because it’s very therapeutic. ♥️ When I was going through the traumas of the last few years, I would often enter my little ‘Narnia’ Craftroom with such deep sadness and then I would totally get lost in all those beautiful craft materials creating something from scratch which is very healing. ♥️. I do a lot of work with children and they absolutely love it, both boys and girls- ♥️I think it should be an essential part of the school curriculum because it completely calms them down and they take great pride in their work. On Saturday we made wreaths, and the purpose of this workshop was to learn how to actually make the wreath base yourself, using vines such as clematis vines from your own garden. ♥️ It was fun but omg does it make a mess! #shelfiesunday 💗 Everyone needs some glitter shelves in their life!🤭🥰 I use glitter a lot in my life, workshops and clubs and wanted some tiny shelves in my craftroom to put all my glitters on. So I bought some balsa wood strips of wood from @hobbycrafthq and asked Mr Chandelier to make me some tiny corbels to put the shelves on. I suggested cutting down a bit of the top of some skirting board but he made them from an offcut of architrave instead and don’t they just look so adorable. 💕 @bm_stores sell packs of these little glitter pot sets with screw top lids full of their glitter colours which are amazing value at around £4 for I think 12 jars. I then just decanted my other glitters I bought elsewhere into the empty jars when I’d used the b&m ones up. They work perfectly and I keep any spare or excess glitter in a drawer 💕 I then painted them to match the walls in @Frenchchic paint in Whiter than White and I absolutely love them - they make me smile every time I sit at my desk ☺️💕 How’s your Sunday going lovelies, we’re building a chill nook in our garden so I’m off to help with that never ending job. It’s time to say goodbye to the sea and lazy days on the beach 🏝 💗 We have no internet or tv here and can only get phone reception around midnight which disappears by the morning but it’s been very therapeutic and healing. I’m going to really miss this view and the calming noise of the ocean 🌊. I most definitely have a wreath obsession 🥰. I’m always making and buying them and just my bedroom alone has seven in it 😮🙄 (I didn’t actually realise that until I counted them just now 😮seriously!) ☺️. I often create intending to sell them, and I do indeed sell quite a lot, but because I make everything with such love to fit the colours of my home, I usually can’t bear to let them go 🥰. I’m so happy with how this beautiful wooden wall at the beach house turned out 🤍 This is the largest wall in the main living space at our tiny beach house, which we’ve been renovating for the last year. 🤍 I designed this property to have a scandi / boho vibe so I always knew it would have to have plenty of wood, whites and texture. 🤍 Mr Chandelier really didn’t want to install it as from a construction point of view, it was grief 🤦🏼‍♀️. However from a design point of view I absolutely had to have it as the property was really bland and lacking in any character 🤍 We used beautiful reclaimed boards with a lovely patina to give that wonderful ‘I’ve been here for at least a hundred years’ feel. 🤍 I started by roughly painting the wall following the grain with @frenchicpaint in Whiter than White. I chose this as I love the tone, have it in my craftroom and when I did a load of samples, it was by far the best paint for staying power when sanded 🤍. 24 hours later I painted the top coat using the same technique, but slightly altering the coverage. I used Slaked Lime Mid by @littlegreenepaintcompany as again, I love the colour and have it at home, plus it has the slightest hint of taupe compared to the Whiter than White 🤍. I then heavily sanded the wall which yes, was a nightmare job but omg do we love it. I held a workshop yesterday morning @campdenhomenursing to make these adorable Easter bunny pots and everyone loved making them so much.💕They were rightly proud of their sweet creations and thought they looked hand painted 🥰 So very therapeutic. 💗 I then made them again in the afternoon with my Craft Club students and filled them with chocolate🥰 The Mums rather loved them too☺️💗 They are very addictive to make and looked so cute and I loved how everyone does something completely different! We have a few blossom trees in our tiny gardens and they make me smile so much to see them 💕 This area used to be tarmac 😮 so I designed this charming play area which works beautifully and is just big enough for picnics on the tiny lawn 🥰. I absolutely love love love my daughter’s room makeover I did for her birthday. 🤍🤍🤍 She came home from school to find a grown up bed, dressed with the most beautiful @spinkiebaby tulle canopy and giant Pom Poms to hang above this macrame hanging chair we bought as one of her presents. We bought them from @livandprimrose who was so helpful sending out samples at the eleventh hour and making sure I got it all on time 🤍🤍🤍 She was beyond excited (as was I 🥰) as she wasn’t expecting any of it. The chair is just dreamy and the Pom Poms not only look equally as dreamy, but also hide the metal chains. 🤍 She had wanted a bedroom like our Master bedroom but with a bit of a boho feel to it too, as that’s how I’m decorating our tiny beach home and she loves it ☺️💕 It took a lot of secret planning as we had to get a good fixing from a support beam above, for the chair days before and organise and hide a 3’ mattress, canopy and swing seat, seriously hard work! ☺️. I just adore doing children’s rooms and they’re one of my specialties. I’ve done so many but I will never tire of them as I’m usually allowed to let my imagination run wild and really make them magical. I love finding and making individual treasures that fit the brief and the colour tones and theme. My heart beats a little faster when I go into my craftroom, especially when it’s dark and the fairy lights are on. It’s a secret hidden room which makes it even more magical 💕 I had a little count up of my ribbons the other day and I have around 600+ rolls in every conceivable colour 😮. So why is it then, when I shop @therangeartscrafts these jump into my trolley 🙄. These are just the ribbons I purchased from my last 2 weekly trips, amongst many other things. A little en-suite love today as I’ve never posted it before. 💕It’s been a lot of work and quite a lot of grief, mostly because we moved the wall over and took about 8 inches from our bedroom to make it work 🙄💕 I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, and it was lots of work for Mr Chandelier, but it enabled us to have this lovely set up and utilise this gorgeous old piece of rustic oak from @lakeswoodwork 💕We chopped it around a bit to make it work. It’s so tactile and beautiful and has given us the rustic look and colour we were after. 💕 The tiles are Egyptian Limestone and were from @indigenousltduk and I would highly recommend them for their customer service. The sample we ordered them from was a lot paler but unfortunately, when our order reached Egypt they had reached a different layer in the limestone quarry and our colour tone was darker. A lot of companies would have just shipped them anyway, but Mark the owner called us and said come and take a look as I know it’s not the original colour tone you wanted. He knew how pedantic I am about colour tones! We have spent the summer renovating this teeny tiny little property overlooking Swanage Bay 💕. We affectionately call it The Beach House but it’s just a tiny little 1 bedroom apartment. We were meant to be renovating and then selling on but we have totally fallen in love 💕. Even when we had gutted it and it was a shell with just hot water to one tiny sink and we had blow up mattresses all in a row we didn’t want to go home. 💕 We now sleep on the sofa bed and just arrive and open up the doors to listen to the sea. Summer entertaining is sadly coming to an end but at least we’ve had some wonderful sunshine this week 💕 My littlest went back to school on Tuesday and I’m now entering my most manic time of year with 2 house renovations still to complete 🤭. I recently posted about the trauma of losing my hair to chemotherapy, and now it’s grown back, how I constantly get told by strangers how beautiful my hair is 😮💕 Well, the wonderful people @johnmastersorganicsuk contacted me after that post and said how beautiful they thought my hair was, how touched they were by my story and could they feature me in their newsletter 🤭💕 Wow! At last our bedroom is completely finished 🤭💕 We finally had the carpet laid, which we bought @barbersflooring and are so very happy with it 💕. It was such a ridiculously long project, started a couple of years ago, but this room and our en-suite was such a phenomenal amount of work, with a lot of bespoke building and joinery detail. 💕 The wardrobes were a lot of grief too, 2nd photo, as we were using old internal drawers which we already had. However, they were all different colours and sizes and very ugly so it took many, many hours to get them looking pretty. They most definitely deserve a post of their own ☺️💕 It was the view from one of our bedroom windows, 3rd photo, which actually sold us this house, looking out over the valley at the hills and the little honeypot cottages 💕 Now to finish the rest of the house and our other renovation we’re doing on a tiny little property by the beach in Dorset. It’s been a really tough month but these beautiful tumbled marble tiles are finally going on ☺️💕 I am currently running 2 house renovation projects but I haven’t been too well and I’ve had some tough hospital visits and a biopsy, but I am lucky 🍀 strong 💪🏼 and blessed 💕and all is good. So I’m running to the post office the other day in the wind and rain and this lady walks past me and stops in her tracks and said “you have beautiful hair”. 💕 So I stopped and turned round studying her face to see if she ‘knew’ but she didn’t ‘know’ and I thanked her for her beautiful comment and told her I had lost my hair during chemo 18 months ago and this is how it has grown back💕I think a lot of it is down to the @johnmastersorganicsuk products I have used since then 💕 To my surprise, I get told how lovely my hair is nearly every single time I go out and it always shocks me because mostly, the wonderful kind compliments are from people that don’t know that I lost it and when I tell them how much their comment means they are amazed. This lovely old school desk has seen a lot of action with all the homeschooling we have done 💕 I am actually nervous about my little Ruby going back to school and I will really miss her being with me 24/7 like when she was small. 💕. I’ve had the most awful week, first I was locked out of my car in a car park in the snow until help arrived. Then, I went home and was cooking dinner when Mr Chandelier slipped whilst doing some plumbing and we not only had a flood situation with water pouring through the lighting from above, onto our settee and carpet in one of our two completed rooms 😔but worse still Mr C burnt his hands and had to go to hospital 😢. I love my Aga ❤️ I really do, even though every time the gas bill comes in, I am reminded that we could have a yearly holiday for the amount it costs to run 🙄☺️🥰 It was the first thing we installed in our house renovation, but much as we adore it, there have been many times when we have questioned if it really earns its keep 🥰. The food it cooks is really divine, it has to be said, although some might say it takes so long, the fact that you are starving could sway your judgement ☺️🥰 But where would I stand and lean, how else would I dry the school uniform on a Sunday evening, where would I dry all the items that I paint, especially during one of my Creative workshops and what about all the wet coats and shoes when it’s pouring with rain,🤔Hmmm...the list is endless, and once you have an Aga you never want to live without it it’s most definitely a lifestyle,🤔so I guess it stays for now ☺️❤️🥰 I have to do some really awful admin now, which I really don’t want to do, but I don’t want to start the new week with it on my list so I’m just going to get on with it. OMG😮 we have very almost finished renovating our bedroom 😮☺️💕 All we need now is the new carpet once the shops open again 🙄💕 And double OMG 😮 how absolutely divine and beautiful is this gorgeous faux reindeer hide from @coxandcox for which I asked Santa for Christmas 🥰. I’m so in Love, It’s so unbelievably realistic, swipe to see a close up of its scrumptiousness 💕💕💕 I have most definitely earned it though, as this has been by far, the worst room in the house to do. It had so many windows and doors, alongside lots of very detailed building and carpentry work. It also had a lot of problems that needed to be resolved and the resolution always involved ludicrous amounts of work 😔 However, thankfully Mr Chandelier is a Builder and Carpenter and he’s done a beautiful job but it has taken us such a very long time. It has taken up such crazy amounts of my time as well, as I am both the designer and the decorator and both Mr C and I are perfectionists, even though we try not to be 🤦🏼‍♀️☺️💕 I will keep posting the different angles and work we have done and you will then understand why it has taken such a long time. I have finished painting my bedroom chest of drawers - Yay, 🥰and after a bit of deliberation, I chose a combination of different handles, including the crowns and pink glass flowers we all loved, alongside some diamanté and mercury glass. 💕 I am so happy with how it turned out, and so is Mr Chandelier (he has really embraced the pink in this house 🥰) and it means that my bedroom is so nearly finished 😮Wow,😁all I am left with is painting a very large mirror to match the drawers. 💕 I have wanted to paint it for such a long time and it was always going to be pink and heavily distressed, but it was just getting the right pink. I used Pink Ground Estate eggshell by @farrowandball as their eggshells are very durable and hard-wearing which swung the decision really, in their favour, of that colour. 💕 The last photo is the ‘before’ both of the chest of drawers and approximately halfway through the refurbishment of this room, so it was taken amongst great chaos🙄which is out of shot. As you can see from the ugly breeze blocks, we took a big pipe out of the ugly boxed in corner, which we removed. It made such a big difference. This wall used to have Ikea wardrobes along it and we re-used and I transformed the ‘internals’ which I will post soon. It was definitely the right decision to move the bed and it’s also good feng shui I believe, which is even better ☺️💕. How adorable is this Maileg Hanging Egg Chair that I finally finished making at 10.30 last night ❤️ I used a Mache Egg which I bought @hobbycrafthq and then painted it with @frenchicpaint chic paint in Whiter than White. I then added the trimmings, cut some faux fur for the seat, added a cushion, some little beaded hearts and a tiny rose gold crown on top ❤️👑❤️ I was so excited to show Ruby as we had chosen all the trimmings and materials together, but obvs she was in bed. These were the last decorations to come down yesterday. They were in my bedroom either side of the bed and just before midnight last night, I ran round the house taking and laying everything down like a mad woman 😯, although Mr Chandelier would say that’s normal for me!☺️🥰 It’s funny because Mr C did roll his eyes a little and ask me why I needed holes in our just finished bedroom ceiling when I asked him to put the hooks up for me. However, when I was taking them down last night, he asked me “why can’t they stay up all year as they don’t look Christmassy”! My kitchen currently resembles a dusty paint workshop right now as I’ve been painting an old chest of drawers for the last 48 hours. 😮 I’ve used @farrowandball Pink Ground and done a heavily distressed finish. I was sanding away just before midnight last night and Mr Chandelier came down to keep me company. When I asked him what he thought he said, “it looks lovely but I don’t understand why you would pay £50 for a pot of paint and then sand it away” 😯Ooh 😯, what can I say! 😂☺️🥰 Everywhere is in a complete muddle, and I need to take down all my decorations today and finish the painting as it is very chaotic, especially when I’m cooking as it’s all over my island. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Oh, and I need to sort home schooling out and finish yesterday’s project as someone will not be amused...hmmm it’s going to be a long hard day I think 🤦🏼‍♀️ I can’t decide which handles to use what do you think? It’s all about the wonderful world of Maileg today 💕 I have had this most adorable @mailegworld advent calendar for over 10 years now and those cute little advent doors are still making us smile every Christmas, all these years later ☺️💕 I have been collecting Maileg for around 15 years and these lovely scaffold board shelves are for special toys just like that 💕 The gorgeous soldiers are part of a Maileg soldier skittles set and can you spot the sweet brown bear and the knitted soldier, they are all Maileg too. 💕 Although it is expensive, everything is beautifully made with high quality materials and it really is one of the most delightful brands I have ever come across. 💕 My children have all had them as Birthday and Christmas presents for many years and they will all very much become treasured inheritance toys. How many lantern houses is too many lantern houses 🤷‍♀️💕 I keep looking at them on all these beautiful online shop feeds and wanting to buy more. However, I have them here in my lounge, which I will move into the kitchen for Christmas. I also have 3 of them on the landing and 2 more in my hallway 😮 Ok ok, when I count and say it out loud it does sound like a lot but I just love them so much and I think they look fab and magical, especially when lit ☺️. First of all, thank you all so so much for the love and kindness and your beautiful heartfelt comments on my last post. It was truly heartwarming to receive such love and support from all of you ❤️❤️❤️ I have been doing a lot of creating for my friends lately who have, as usual, been extremely kind and given me so much love 💕 It has been very therapeutic to make for them without any time constraints, choosing colours that I know they love, struggling not to add pink if they don’t have that same #pinklove ☺️ and smiling when I find that special flower or material that I know and hope will make them gasp, picturing their faces when they unwrap the baby pink tissue paper and they see it for the first time 🥰 They never expect it and that’s what makes it even lovelier isn’t it. Warning 😔 very sad post below 😢 At the start of the summer holidays, I had a beautiful Brother and a beautiful Sister who very both very special to me 💕. Now I have neither. My sister suddenly lost a lot of weight and went to the doctors to have a blood test. It was discovered she had an aggressive cancer and within 8 weeks she had passed away. Two weeks later, my brother had a heart attack, went into a coma and then passed away the next day. Whilst all this was going on, I was having a biopsy for cancer, as the tablet my doctor had put me on after recovering from breast cancer last year, is known for causing cancer elsewhere in the body. Yes I know, crazy isn’t it. By the way, my instinct told me very, very strongly not to take it. Thankfully, this time it was clear, but had I not jumped on a symptom straight away it could have been a very different story. Last time I left it for some months before getting checked out. I wouldn’t normally post such deeply private and devastating news, but I really wanted to reach out because both my sister and I, didn’t go to the doctors straight away, even though our instinct told both of us there was something wrong. So if this post helps or saves just one person’s life then that’s an amazing special thing. So if anyone reading this is, like my sister and I, scared to go to the doctors for fear of the worst, please please go as my sister may still be here and I would not have needed chemo and radiotherapy. This is our teeny tiny alleyway of a garden, swipe to see the before 💕 As you can see, it was just a very ugly, narrow strip of wasteland that we weren’t sure what to do with until I saw a beautiful pink porch swing on Pinterest. 💕 My mind was made up, I wanted a pink swing too 🥰. So, we sourced this beautiful quality @alexander.rose.furniture swing seat from EBay for just £38 as it was damaged. We then repaired it and built a small pergola to fit the space, put fencing up for privacy, built a load of log roll flowerbeds (see last photo), filled the beds with baby pink roses and pretty flowers and put some slate chippings down 💕 Now, we have the most wonderful, albeit tiny, space where we can sit and catch the evening sun, see the village church in the distance and listen to the sheep 💕 I truly believe that any space can be made into something wonderful, no matter how small.
